Date Posted: 06/12/2008
Job Description
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow to work on the development and application of computational biology methods for investigating biomolecular interactions and computer-aided drug design. The emphasis is on modelign and design of antimicrobial peptides as well as on modeling of complement proteins, their interactions and design of complement activation inhibitors.
The project is advised by Professor Yiannis Kaznessis of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and is funded by the National Institutes of Health. CEMS is a top Chemical Engineering Department, according to the National Research Council (number one) and the US News and World Report (number four).
A Ph.D. or equivalent in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, bioinformatics, computational biology, biophysics or related field is required.
A strong background in biophysics with excellent computational skills and experience in biomolecular simulations are essential. Free energy calculations experience a plus. Experience with biomolecular simulation packages and protein-ligand and protein-protein docking methods is also a plus.
